Brod američke obalne straže u Perzijskom zaljevu upustio se u oružani sukob s iranskim ribarskim brodom, nakon što su ribiči navodno prema Amerikancima uperili automatsko ili neko drugo oružje, objavio je u utorak Pentagon.

Amerikanci su prema Irancima prvi zapucali, nakon čega je prema njima ispaljen jedan hitac kao odgovor.

Prema riječima glasnogovornika Pentagona kontraadmirala Johna Kirbyja u incidentu nije bilo ozlijeđenih.

Dodao je da je brod obalne straže Perzijskim zaljevom plovio u sklopu rutinske pomorske sigurnosne operacije, ali nije iznosio detalje o toj operaciji.
